Defining the artist!

imageIn the exploration of me, I am defining what I want to do with my life. The older I get the more I define what I do want to do with the exclusion clause, which simply put, goes like this; “well, now that I have tried that…I KNOW I don’t want to do that”.  I have defined most of my life by what I had to do by level of responsibility…now it is about what I find I like to do.  I like to take pictures, and for the most part I like to process those pictures in the editing software.  I am not a very patient person with myself and therefore I am VERY hard on myself…I expect to conquer a new skill immediately and if I don’t I hate it.  Well I would like to run the risk of being a little bit fair to me…it cannot be expected that I would get every skill on the first attempt.  After all I AM NOT GOD. No perfection for me.  I love the black and white photos I have been creating lately and I would like to share with you some of those shots…I think they are getting pretty good.  So now, we are back to the whole point of this article…defining what I want to do with my life!  I want to travel and take photos of the amazing creations on this planet….National Geographic comes to mind…I would love for someone to say…

“That is a Henderson photo, you can tell by the style”…like people that will recognize an Ansel Adams shot because his pics are memorable.  I want that for my work, I hope to achieve that before I leave this world and maybe my vision of the beauty here on earth will supercede my mortality! What??? A girl can dream can’t she?

Art has always been a part of my life, ever since I can remember I have been creating art. I would make gifts to share with others at Christmas and then I found drawing, or maybe God introduced me to that particular art form, but it was an all consuming thing during my youth. After I had kids, it seemed that art didn't fit into my world in the same way. But the desire was always there and it eventually took over my life again...becoming a need more than a desire. So, photography enters my life. Artists have a unique way of seeing the world, it is their vision that creates the art not the medium they choose to express it in. No two artists will see the same thing in the exact same way. It is the most beautiful form of flattery to have someone see your art and tell you it is beautiful to them. It connects you on such an intimate level. I want to share my creative vision with everyone that wants to look upon it with appreciation.
