Have I Made It?

I have struggled with the concept of success. I cannot describe what it should look like, not even for myself, let alone for anyone else. But I am pretty sure it doesn’t just happen without some effort on the achiever’s part. I have also struggled with focus for the direction that success should take and where it will land me. I know all this is irrelevant if you do not know me.

I would love to identify as an artist. It has been the lifelong dream I have dreamed since I was about 11 years of age. I am not what you would call an amazing artist, but I am pretty sure I am decent. You see here comes the doubt that has shrouded my constant concept of success. If you cannot believe you can achieve it….it will not happen.

I will say that again…IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT….IT WILL NOT HAPPEN! That was for myself and the others in the back row that didn’t grasp the concept early enough to achieve success in that age old quest after school. If you are like me you are well into your adulthood and still do not know what you want to be when you grow up (or how to get there). I have recently published my first coloring book (on Kindle Direct Publishing), to say I am excited is an understatement! For me it is a direction for establishing my success as an artist. Albeit, most artists are not vying to be considered a coloring book artist, I will however take it.

What this means to me is a targeted goal that was set, and met. Whether the art is good, or great is to be determined by the reviews of those that have purchased the book. I am working on believing success is possible at any age.

So let’s change the script a bit…. I know it has been said before but the truth is hard to ignore.
